STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE

Neighbors near the corner of Grand Route Saint John and North White would like the City of New Orleans to stop in the name of love.

Several accidents have marred the peace and serenity normally enjoyed at this intersection.

However, the City of New Orleans continues to maintain they can find no records of any accidents at Grand Route Saint John and North White that would warrant putting up the stop signs requested by residents.

At the March meeting of the Faubourg St. John Neighborhood Association, the City gave a lengthy presentation on why they would be unable to meet the simple request of installing stop signs at Grand Route Saint John and North White. District A City Councilperson Susan Guidry, who was also at the meeting, expressed her frustration with the situation.

Conrad Abadie, who lives near the intersection of Grand Route Saint John and North White recently wrote the following:

“In 2014 my Chrysler 300 was parked on Grand Route near our property. It was hit by a speeding van that was hit by a Maxima that was attempting to cross at N. White. Once before, our property was the victim of an accident in the same location when a speeding car lost control running up on the sidewalk in front of our property taking out a city owned crepe myrtle.”

As you can see from the settlement from Conrad’s insurance company below, his parked car was a total loss because of the lack of stop signs at Grand Route Saint John and North White.
