This week is National Sunshine Week
organized to remind and educate the public about their rights regarding
access to public meetings and public records. The Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana have put together four (4) short FAQ sheets on constituent’s basic rights and requirements as well as one on the upcoming Legislative session on redistricting. *The special session on redistricting begins next week, March 20 – April 15th, and Congressional, House and Senate Seats, as well as BESE and the Supreme Court will be up for redistricting.
Constituents need to be as informed as possible to have any possibility of giving public input now that we’ll be losing a district.*
Below are links to the FAQs that answer basic questions about redistricting, public meetings and public records. The FAQs have also been translated into Spanish and are currently being translated in Vietnamese which can be made available to you by contacting PAR directly (www.la-par.org)
