Friends of Lafitte Corridor along with the Urban Conservancy are holding a CLEAN-UP DAY TODAY, Saturday, April 9th. Those interested in assisting should meet at the Sojourner Truth Neighborhood Center at 9:00 a.m. this morning. The address is 2200 Lafitte Street – New Orleans, LA 70119 (at Galvez).

The clean-up is being held in anticipation of our annual Hike the Lafitte Corridor to take place on the following Saturday, April 16th. Our partner, Keep Louisiana Beautiful, has graciously donated garbage bags.

Friends of Lafitte Corridor to Host Their Annual Hike
SAVE-THE-DATE: APRIL 16, 2011

New Orleans, LA
Hike the Lafitte Corridor will take place this year on April 16, 2011 beginning at 10:00 am. Since establishment, each year Friends of Lafitte Corridor (FOLC) holds a hike where they lead the community through the 3-mile stretch that will soon be constructed into the Lafitte Greenway. The greenway will link the following neighborhoods French Quarter, Tremé, Mid-City, Faubourg St John, City Park and Lakeview.

“Once you actually walk the length of the future greenway site, it makes it easier to see the potential such a project will have on our neighborhoods and community.” stated FOLC President, Bart Everson, “One of our goals is to make sure the neighbors and community in the areas closely affected are part of the building and planning process.”

Details on additional activities, partnerships and information regarding Hike the Lafitte Corridor 2011 will soon be announced. For more information, please visit: www.folc-nola.org.
