REDISTRICTING INFO

Many thanks to Rocky Seydel and Seth Levine for representing Faubourg St. John at the District D redistricting meeting held Tuesday, April 19, 2011.

Below are the upcoming meeting dates on this important subject. Also below are the census numbers for each district and a graphic on how each district needs to gain or lose residents.

District A
Monday, May 9, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Myra Clare Rogers Chapel, 1229 Broadway St.
Thursday, May 12, 6 to 7:30 p.m., First Baptist Church, 5290 Canal Blvd.
District B
Thursday, April 21, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Grace Episcopal Church, 3700 Canal St.
Tuesday, April 26, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Sacred Heart Nims Arts Center, 3901 St. Charles Ave.
District C
Monday, April 25, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Holy Angels Church, 3500 St. Claude Ave.
Tuesday, May 10, 2011, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Delgado Community College West Bank Campus, 2600 General Meyer Ave., Building 1, Room 130
District D

The 2010 Census shows a little more than 343,000 people live in the city of New Orleans, and here’s how the population breaks down in the five city districts:
District A: 77,166
District B: 70,903
District C: 81,330
District D: 58,352
District E: 56,078
The total population (343,829) is divided by the five council districts, and that’s the number of people each district should have, which comes to about 68,765 people.

This is a map of the boundaries of the Faubourg St. John Neighborhood Association.

FSJNA’s boundaries are:
Onzaga to Orleans and North Broad to North Carrollton.

The voting precincts within those boundaries are listed below.
