BAYOU BOOGALOO NAMED BEST NEIGHBORHOOD FESTIVAL
AT OFFBEAT MAGAZINE ‘BEST OF THE BEAT’ AWARDS

At the 2010 Offbeat Magazine Business Awards, editors and staff named the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo ‘Best Neighborhood’ Festival; it is the first time the award has been given. Each year, the festival’s goal is to showcase the finest music, food and culture that are uniquely New Orleans, alongside the beauty of the Faubourg St. John Neighborhood. This event would not be possible if not for its the sponsors, volunteers, musicians, community groups, and the Mid-City community. “Thank you for your support and helping to continue the community success. It is with great pleasure and heartfelt gratitude that we share this recognition by Offbeat Magazine with our board, staff, and strategic partners” says Jared Zeller, Festival Director.

Preparations are underway for the 6th Anniversary of the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo, held May 20 – 22, 2011. Come enjoy live local music across three outdoor stages; featuring genres such as New Orleans Funk, Brass Band, Swamp Pop, Traditional Jazz, Delta Blues and much more. Patrons can discover one-of-a-kind works of art by local artisans on the crafts village. Festival-goers can also expect more great food and drinks from the city’s best eateries all weekend-long on the banks of historic Bayou St. John.

The Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo continues to stepped up sustainability measures by incorporating Solar powered stages, Bio-Diesel generators, locally grown and organic foods, a comprehensive recycling program and sustainable living and coastal restoration education. As always the Festival is a family-friendly event with a kid’s stage, along with games and activities for children. Attendees can partake in delicious food, spirits and libations, listen to great local music, and enjoy the very best art that New Orleans has to offer.
