Love the Ones You’re With

June 30, 2011 by Charlie London

Baby boomers will likely remember the tune “Love the One You’re With” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5IVuN1N6-Y

Think about this song when you decide to shop outside Faubourg St. John. New Orleans is coming back strong. Large corporate retailers recognize this and are and will be opening up stores near here soon. And, that’s a good thing!

However, summertime is a particularly tough time for our local businesses who do more than just provide services for a price. All our local businesses give back and give back often.

Consider too that money spent locally gets spent over and over within our community by local business owners who live here too.

So please, when you tell yourself you can save a few pennies at that place across town remember to “Love the Ones You’re With” and shop locally. Please make a concerted effort to patronize all of our local businesses.

Our local businesses were here after “the storm” when many thought New Orleans was finished. Let’s remember who our friends are and shop locally. You’ll be glad you “loved the ones you’re with”.

AND, don’t forget to attend the Bastille Day Fest on July 9th at Ponce de Leon and Esplanade. This festival is just one of many things our local businesses do, not because they make money, but because our local businesses love the ones they’re with.

Please visit the link below for more information about the Bastille Celebration on July 9th…
