THE RESULTS OF A RECENT BIKE SURVEY BY THE LOCAL ORGANIZATION BIKE EASY
LEADS TO THE INSTALLATION OF NEW BIKE RACKS AT
THE FRENCH MARKET

Join us for a bicycle secondline, and a call to action for more locals
to come and enjoy the French Quarter this Spring–and to help keep it
clean, vibrant, and positive for all!

BEFORE THE PRESS CONFERENCE: (Bicycle Secondline–All are welcome!)

9:30 a.m. Meet at Dutch Alley fountain at Dumaine and Decatur Streets

9:40 a.m. Tornado Brass Band begins; bicyclists and participants gather
for secondline

9:45 a.m. Band leads us all from Dutch Alley, down N Peters sidewalk,
across street, into French Market via arch at Ursulines, through the
Market, to end at Barracks Street arch. Podium/riser to the left of arch
(when facing Mint) for speakers.

10 a.m. Introductions and Welcome by Frank Pizzolato, Executive Director
of the French Market: How we are supporting the return of locals to the
market with new bike racks and other new festivals, event series, and
fresh food vendors at the Farmers Market, from baked goods to a new
oyster bar!

10:05 Councilwoman Kristin Gisleson Palmer, Councilmember, District “C”:
Importance of the Bike Easy bike study; Don’t Trash DAT! Keep New
Orleans Beautiful Campaign; bringing locals back to the historic French
Market

10:10 City Council President Jacquelyn Brechtel Clarkson: Why and how
the French Market is key to welcoming locals back to the French Quarter

10:15 a.m. Jamie Wine, Executive Director, Bike Easy: Results of French
Quarter bike survey; secure bike parking as one piece of the puzzle in
drawing locals back to enjoy and support the French Quarter

10:25 a.m. Kate Parker-Karst, Assistant Director, Tulane Prevention
Research Center: Improving “built” environments and neighborhoods to
create a healthier community for all

10:30 a.m. Jan Ramsey, Offbeat Magazine: Creating a Cultural District in

partnerships with the French Market
