Feed the 1st

The "Feed the 1st" program is a collaborative effort of the Faubourg St. John Neighborhood Association and the Deutsches Haus to provide meals during the Mardi Gras weekend for the officers of the New Orleans Police Department's 1st District who work extremely long hours during Mardi Gras to keep us all safe.

Bonnie and Walter Lee, Mona McMahon, Rex Poling, Nancy Shepard and Susan Roth all pitched in to help get things ready for the Feed the 1st event. Linda Landesberg, Charlotte Pipes, Brenda London along with Joe & Doranel Stephany of Deutsches Haus provided breakfast on 3 mornings for the 1st District. The menu included bananas, oranges, eggs, grits, hash browns, bacon, sausage, orange juice, milk, cereal bars, donuts, bananas, biscuits and even a bouquet of tulips for the table.
Feed1st-tableLunches included protein bars, home made turkey and roast beef sandwiches, gum, mints and cookies. Hot Dogs and Chili was the fare on Monday afternoon along with turkey sandwiches and chips. On Mardi Gras Day another big breakfast was prepared then Jim and Phyllis Danner, Helen and Ellen Miller and Lizzy Miller provided a red beans and rice meal for Mardi Gras lunch.
