B.B. St. Roman [formerly Barbara Becker] is the only staff member for the New Orleans Police Department’s Homeless Assistant Unit. Before helping the homeless, she traveled the world, recording sound for documentaries. And, at one point, she became the tour manager for Dr. John, Louisiana musician and legend. Her film audio credits include Mother Teresa and Shamans of the Blind Country, a film ethnography of the Himalayas.

Homelessness is a growing problem in the city of New Orleans, and the shelter system is unable to keep up. As head of the Homeless Assistance Unit of the New Orleans Police Department, B.B. St. Roman works to get people back on their feet. With her warm smile and listening ear, B.B. brings hope to those who have lost everything. Please watch B.B. St. Roman in the video below:

FSJNA’s Website and Online Presence – Future Plans

computermarketing1aDo you know someone passionate about Faubourg St. John that is willing to donate a couple of hours each day to work the website at fsjna.org and promote the neighborhood via various social media outlets?

I’ve been doing it for over a decade and the time for a fresh perspective is long overdue.

strong-trueKeep in mind, it can’t be someone with an agenda other than the greater good of the entire neighborhood and one who will have the stamina to continue to be upbeat about Faubourg St. John year after year.

Please send a message to info@fsjna.org if you know someone you believe can take our internet presence to new heights with consistent and persistent marketing of our message.   The potential candidate must understand that this is a long term volunteer commitment.

Thank you for all you do to move New Orleans forward,
