My designs are inspired by friends, family and New Orleans – the city I love.

—Lauren Alsop

Lauren says,
“I’m a local designer with a small home design studio. My work can be seen here: www.facebook.com/lapaper I do a lot of custom design work – t-shirts, event decor, wedding invitations, and other illustrations.”

Hello!

You’ve likely seen the plethora of art that local artists have allowed FSJNAdotORG to use throughout the website. I am excited to announce today that yet another local artist – Laura Alsop – has allowed use of her work at FSJNAdotORG.

Ms. Alsop allowed use of her “seasons” graphic which you can see on the main page at FSJNAdotORG. IT clicks through to Faubourg St. John’s community calendar.

If you are a FACEBOOK user please click on the link below then “LIKE” her graphic. If enough FACEBOOK users “LIKE” her graphic then it will be featured on a t-shirt from Storyville Apparel.

Crawfish Prove Popular

March 31, 2012 by admin

Rebecca Rapp (in the photo above) did the graphics for the 2012 “Boilin’ for the Bridges” event.

Today’s “Boilin’ for the Bridges” was a huge success! Hundreds of neighbors and friends turned out to support the ReBridge fundraiser.

Don’t Eat the Straight Ones March 31st

Re-Bridge is hosting its second annual Boilin’ for the Bridges on Saturday, March 31 from 3 to 6 pm at a historic home to help raise matching funds to rehabilitate the Magnolia and Dumaine Street Bridges.

Last year’s Boilin’ for the Bridges was a rollicking good time and this year the crawfish are even bigger so we are expecting to draw an even larger crowd. Tickets are $30 ($5 for kids under 10 and babies in arms are free). Join the fun and get all the crawfish, Abita beer and soft drinks you can handle!

You may purchase tickets online at http://rebridge.org and also at Lux Salon at 3141 Ponce de Leon Street. For additional information please contact Rachel Dangermond at (504) 309-2116.

The title of this post “Don’t Eat the Straight Ones” refers to picking out only crawfish that were alive when boiled. Yes, crawfish have to be boiled alive and become curved when they hit the water. If the crawfish is still straight then it was dead before it hit the water.

The big feast you see in the photo above was for the “Boilin’ for the Bridges” fundraiser held last year. On March 31st of this year the fun will begin again!
