A 7-0 vote by New Orleans’ City Council brings one of the city’s favorite confections closer to a comeback.
Today’s vote approved a permit for Hubig’s Pies to establish a bakery in the city’s Marigny neighborhood, blocks from where a fire last July gutted the building that housed Hubig’s since 1921.
The fire meant the disappearance of the small paper-wrapped pies that were sold throughout the city, often in checkout aisles at grocery stores, pharmacies, coffee shops and other retailers.
The permit was granted for a site currently owned by the city’s arts high school.
Although the vote was unanimous there was some opposition from neighbors who said they love Hubig’s pies but worry about potential traffic and drainage problems at the planned bakery.

The Hubig’s online store is accepting “angel investor” orders.
https://www.hubigs.com/portals/hubigs/cart/c-1-t-shirts.aspx
You will receive one case of pies to be delivered after the plant re-opens. The cost is $50. Likely each one bought keeps an employee for another day.
It is my understanding that one case = 40 pies.
It’s unlikely the phone number works but it could
have been forwarded… Hubig’s phone number
