Maurepas Neighbors Brighten Holiday

December 26, 2014 by Charlie London

Christmas night, I took a long stroll around Faubourg St. John taking random photos of lights neighbors had put up for the holiday. What was going to be a thirty minute walk turned into a four hour hike. While I did get a bunch of photos, they do not fully represent the enormity of enthusiasm Faubourg St. John residents have for the holiday season. So, if you would like to have your house added to this post or would like to have your street represented, please send high quality photos of the holiday lights on your street to [email protected].

If you haven’t driven by the 3200 block of Ursulines, make a point to do so. Neighbors there have put up a glorious display.

Paul Broussard sent in some great shots of the area around Ponce de Leon and Maurepas Streets. Enjoy!

Maurepas Madness

April 26, 2012 by Charlie London

FOX 8 News covered the event…

photos and video below by Charlie London

It was crazy cool at the corner of Maurepas and Sauvage today. Louis Poche, pictured at left, made a shrine to Tara Jill’s dog inside the abandoned phone booth.

This man from the Sewerage & Water Board came out to flush the catch basin. Neighbors have been complaining of a foul odor at the location for a while.

The big event at Maurepas and Sauvage was the art installation by Frank Relle to help promote Team Gleason which aims to inspire people to live life to the fullest while fundraising to find a cure for ALS.

Crawfish Prove Popular

March 31, 2012 by Charlie London

Rebecca Rapp (in the photo above) did the graphics for the 2012 “Boilin’ for the Bridges” event.

Today’s “Boilin’ for the Bridges” was a huge success! Hundreds of neighbors and friends turned out to support the ReBridge fundraiser.

Magical Mystery Tour – Maurepas Montage

Our neighborhood colors

I don’t think there has ever been a single homeowner in New Orleans who has been afraid to paint their house some strange combination of colors.

I was able to get all these colors in my block alone. I just walked to the intersection taking pictures then turned around and came home. There are some even better color combinations nearby but I wanted to limit it to one block.

Just another reason I love NOLA.
