Most of us are familiar with the tune that sings about the train they call the City of New Orleans. It was a train run by Illinois Central when freight lines were still involved with passenger traffic. Freight train companies no longer have passenger trains and the Illinois Central was bought out by Canadian National in 1998.
Canadian National has a program for their employees where they will donate up to 1,000 dollars toward the 501c3 that the employee does volunteer work for. The Faubourg St. John Neighborhood Association was the recipient of $1,000 as part of this program.
The goal of the program is to help make CN communities better places to live and work by encouraging and supporting the involvement of their employees, both current and retired.
Canadian National believes that by recognizing and supporting community volunteerism through donations to the charitable organizations, CN can help to strengthen and improve the fabric of our communities.
