Just imagine for a minute not being able to read.
How would your life be different?
What kind of job would you have?
Where would you be living?
Honestly, I did not believe that there were many folks out there who could not read until I had a job where I hired over 600 people during a nine year period. You would be surprised at how many young men get passed along through our education system just because they can play a sport well. You would be surprised at the number of people who can’t fill out a job application properly.
What kind of job could you get if you couldn’t read? How would that impact your life?
Click on the link to learn more about the YMCA’s adult literacy program. Think about how important this program is and how it truly changes the lives of those brave enough to admit that they can’t read and courageous enough to do something about it.
Want to get involved in something that truly makes a difference? Call Shannon Cvitanovic at (504) 596-3842 and let her tell you about how you can change the life of another person for the better.
