In true Southern style, the tour starts with a cocktail in hand. What follows is a 45-minute exploration of the distilling process and the unique story of how a rag-tag group of New Orleans artists and musicians turned a love of spirits into this award-winning distillery.
Old New Orleans Rum has been lauded by Saveur magazine and USA Today, and taken top honors in the International Review of Spirits.
NewOrleans.com also says, “On the tour, you’ll see the step-by-step process of how rum is made, from sugarcane to fermentation to barrel aging to bottling.
You’ll hear how this up-and-coming distillery survived the floodwaters of Katrina, and end the tour with a trip to the tasting room for a sampling of the company’s four distinct rums, including the local favorite Cajun Spice.”
Old New Orleans Rum Distillery can be found at 2815 Frenchmen Street in New Orleans. You can take a tour on Monday through Friday at noon, 2 and 4 p.m. On Saturday, tours are offered only at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. You will begin the tour with an Old New Orleans Rum cocktail and end the tour with a tasting of all four products.
