New Orleans City Park Receives Surprise $10,000 Donation from LongHorn
Steakhouse

New Orleans City Park is the recipient of a $10,000 donation from Darden Restaurant’s LongHorn Steakhouse. This donation was presented at the LongHorn Steakhouse’s annual leadership conference taking place in New Orleans and parallels the company’s other charitable support of public trails and open spaces through its partnership with National Recreation and Park Association.

During Wednesday’s gathering, Dave George, president of LongHorn Steakhouse
presented the surprise donation to City Park’s Chief Development Officer,
John Hopper.

“We are so honored to receive this generous donation from LongHorn which
will help us continue improvements in beloved City Park,” says Hopper.
“This donation really shows just how much LongHorn Steakhouse cares about
the communities it serves and the importance of preserving open public
spaces in our country.”

The $10,000 donation will go towards further rebuilding City Park following
the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

“At LongHorn, we believe in hard work and doing things the right way, part
of which means giving back to the local communities we serve,” says Dave
George. “Guests visit us to spend time with family and friends, and what
better way to extend this idea beyond our restaurant than by providing
support to help refurbish outdoor, public spaces for families to enjoy.”

Park and recreation agencies across the U.S. are at the forefront in
providing communities access to open spaces and connection to nature by
providing a multitude of recreational activities, trails and open spaces,
and programs for people of all ages and abilities – having significant
positive impact on quality of life.
