The Mid City Cyclones AAU Basketball Organization is sponsoring its 1st Annual Golf Tournament on June 1, 2012 at City Park Golf Club. As the organization grows, the number of young boys participating in the program continues to grow as well. So this year, all funds raised will go towards the Mid-City Cyclones’ program and Team Gleason, Steve Gleason’s foundation to raise awareness towards ALS.

Maurepas Madness

April 26, 2012 by Charlie London

FOX 8 News covered the event…

photos and video below by Charlie London

It was crazy cool at the corner of Maurepas and Sauvage today. Louis Poche, pictured at left, made a shrine to Tara Jill’s dog inside the abandoned phone booth.

This man from the Sewerage & Water Board came out to flush the catch basin. Neighbors have been complaining of a foul odor at the location for a while.

The big event at Maurepas and Sauvage was the art installation by Frank Relle to help promote Team Gleason which aims to inspire people to live life to the fullest while fundraising to find a cure for ALS.

Check out the 30 second video below of today’s installation:

Put On Your Best Face

April 25, 2012 by Charlie London

Last night the promotion for TEAM GLEASON struck again. “Put on Your Best Face” was installed on the garage of Matt and Stephanie who live on Ponce de Leon.

Many thanks to Frank Relle for this great promotion for Team Gleason. Look for more around the neighborhood soon!

Frank Relle says,

I was standing in the checkout aisle at the grocery when Steve told me he had been diagnosed with (ALS) Lou Gehrig’s disease. I assume he saw the color leave my face because in true Steve form he put things in perspective reminding me, “We all have limited time” and encouraging me to, “get busy living”. I didn’t know what to say, how do you respond when your friend tells you he has a terminal illness? What do you do?

Following Steve’s lead with his creation of TEAM GLEASON whose mission is to inspire, act, and learn; I decided to photograph an Inside Out Project in honor of Steve, Michel, Rivers and their countless supporters.

The idea of the project is to put on your best face and to “get busy living”.

The photographs will be posted on the walls around New Orleans in late April, 2012.

Magical Mystery Tour

April 25, 2012 by Charlie London

Just in time for Jazz Fest, large photos of faces appeared recently at Terranova’s Superette at 3308 Esplanade. The posters were put up by Frank Relle on Monday, April 23rd. The posters are a promotional effort for Team Gleason.
